Plants in Our World: Food, Medicine, and Biodiversity

Prerequisites: BIOL1120 or permission of instructor


  • Students will explore how plants grow, adapt, and sustain life on Earth, and examine their roles in various applications upon and beyond our planet

  • Course Objectives:

    • Understand basic ecological principles as they relate to plants and ecosystems

    • Develop skills recognizing and describing major plant groups

    • Explore applications of plant science in food, medicine, and sustainability

    • Gain hands-on experience with greenhouse, hydroponic, and herbarium methods for studying and managing plant diversity
