Amber Jennings Named Finalist in National Institute on Aging 2025 Start-Up Challenge

University of Memphis

Congratulations to Dr. Amber Jennings, associate professor in Biomedical Engineering, who was recently named a finalist in the National Institute on Aging’s (NIA) 2025 Start-Up Challenge for her groundbreaking innovation in early infection detection. Her start-up, ChromatoCare Innovations, is developing a novel biomarker-based technology designed to make infection detection faster, simpler, and more accessible—especially for aging and vulnerable populations.

The NIA Start-Up Challenge identifies early-stage entrepreneurs advancing technologies that promote healthy aging. Jennings is one of just 21 national finalists selected for their science-driven solutions targeting age-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s and other dementias. These innovators represent a multidisciplinary group working on transformative digital health tools, devices, and therapeutics to improve outcomes for older adults.

Jennings’ selection underscores the University of Memphis’ growing leadership in translational health innovation and its commitment to addressing critical public health challenges through research and entrepreneurship.
